The beaches are facing the problem of sea eroson in Goa which threats to tourism industry. Very low tourism reported in last ended tourism season.
As Goa retained its identity as tourists paradise, thousands of national and international tourists comes every tourism season. But since most of the Goan beaches are beng washedout in last two years trends are noticed declining. The state tourism department also agreed on divertion of tourist from the state. Goa has a 105 -kilometre long costaline, which is prone to sea erosion, presently about 15-kilometres have been affected by sea erosion. However the director of National Institute of Oceanography Mr Satish Shetye believes that

washing of beaches is the impact of global worming. The global warming also led to uncertainty of monsoon

The chief minister Digamber Kamat had set a special committee to look into this matter under NIO Director. Majorda, Miramar, Colva, Palolem, Galgibag and Talpona had affected badly.
The state government had sent all data regarding sea erosion in Goa to Central Water and PowerResearch Station (CWPRS) for study and possible solutions. The minister for Water Resources, Mr Philip Neri said the government is expecting solutions for the sea erosion in Goan beaches. The solutions for different places will varying conditions at different beaches in Goa and it depends on the study of the CWPRS, the state minister said.
Towards the state government had taken several steps to save the beaches. The proposal of construction of 1.3-kilometre long gabion wall with granetic stones weighing 20 to 30 kilogram for Majorda beach had been forwarded for approval. This project is been estimated to Rs 6 crore. Similar safty walls had been constructed in various beaches in Goa since last five years.
